|We say and hear the words “I wish there were more hours in the day” all the time. Many times, we just can’t find time to pray. Everyone has commitments, appointments to make, work to do, social media posts to make, dinners to go to, sports to play, vacations to take, conversations about others to have, practices to get to, naps to take, workouts to get done, texts to send…you know, all really important stuff.
While at any given time, yes, we can fit all of those things into our lives, if we don’t find time for prayer and listening and learning from God, then we aren’t doing this whole “Christian” thing quite right. The fact is, Jesus directs us to find quiet time to personally talk to God regularly.
Paul writes in Thessalonians to “pray without ceasing” and Jesus says in Matthew 6: “Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you”
People spend on average between 1-2 hours on social media a day, 4-5 hours watching TV daily, about 15 minutes playing video games a day, and 4-6 hours per week shopping online
Hmmm…maybe we can find some more time in the day after all…if we look hard enough.
